Duty-free import

In accordance with Russian legislation, duty-free importation is possible for the following categories of citizens:

  1. Foreign citizens who temporarily import personal belongings with the registration of the obligation to re-export. After the expiration of this obligation, the items must be removed from Russia
  2. Russian citizens, in case of continuous stay abroad for more than 6 months, provided that the customs value of imported items does not exceed 65,000 rubles. As an additional document, you will need a declaration of separate baggage, filled out at the airport and containing information about the number of seats and the number of the consignment note for which the cargo is imported.
  3. Individuals participating in the State Program to Facilitate the Voluntary Resettlement of Compatriots Living Abroad in the Russian Federation, approved by by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated June 22, 2006 No. 637, and members of their families who are jointly relocating to a permanent place of residence in the Russian Federation, importing personal belongings during the duration of the State Program.
  4. Persons recognized as refugees or internally displaced persons in accordance with the established procedure, as well as those resettling from foreign countries to the Russian Federation for permanent residence

*The customs value is ~ 2-5 USD per 1 kg, depending on the characteristics of the imported items

General list of documents required for import customs clearance of personal items

  1. Notarized power of attorney + 2 notarized copies (text will be provided)This document is required only for road or sea transportation
    When air cargo is processed, the recipient's presence at customs is required
  2. Copy of passport, Russian visa, Moscow / Ministry of Registration, work permits, stamped by the employer
  3. A letter from the employer company to the Russian customs (the text will be provided)
  4. A letter addressed to the Russian customs from the employer company for temporary importation (the text will be provided)
  5. A list and photographs of cultural objects and objects of "cultural value"

General list of documents required for import customs clearance of a vehicle:

  1. Notarized power of attorney + 2 notarized copies (text will be provided)
  2. A letter from the employer company to the Russian customs (the text will be provided)
  3. Copy of passport, Russian visa, Moscow / Ministry of Registration, work permits, stamped by the employer
  4. Original vehicle registration certificate
  5. A letter addressed to the Russian Customs from the employer company for temporary importation (the text will be provided)

Import customs clearance of cultural items and items of "cultural value":

Items such as paintings, musical instruments (pianos, plucked instruments), sculptures, decorative and applied arts, samovars, handmade carpets, collections, religious objects, etc. or items over 50 years old must be registered upon importation into the Russian Federation.

To carry out the registration procedure, we need photographs and a detailed description of each item (size, material, technique, artist, name, year). This information must be provided before shipment to Russia

2 sets of color photographs and a detailed description for each item must be attached to the cargo

In the event that items over 100 years old were imported into Russia, but they were not registered, it will be almost impossible to export them.

In the event that items over 50 years old were imported into Russia, but they were not registered, it will be necessary to obtain special permits of the established sample from the Ministry of Culture in order to send them abroad.

Items prohibited in unaccompanied baggage:

  1. Alcoholic beverages
  2. medical preparations
  3. Toiletries (perfumes, colognes, aerosols, etc.) - only for air cargo
  4. Food, cigarettes
  5. Dry ice
  6. Matches, lighters
  7. Explosives, pyrotechnic substances and products
  8. Mercury barometers and thermometers
  9. Batteries and accumulators - only for air cargo
  10. Magnetized materials and objects containing them are for air cargo only
  11. Compressed and liquefied gas cylinders
  12. Flammable, corrosive household liquids, bleaching powders, etc.
  13. Infectious and toxic substances
  14. Radioactive materials or objects containing them
  15. Internal combustion engines
  16. objects made of precious metals and stones
  17. currency
  18. Pornographic content products
